Margaret Mitchell

Not every one has seen Margaret Mitchell. She reached literary acclaim in 1936 with her only novel, Gone with the Wind. Her story is based on Scarlet O'Hara's epic saga through the Civil War, three husbands, including Rhett Butler, and her willpower to survive all obstacles, including the ultra-restrictive Southern societal status quo.

Her death was the result of an auto accident, which took Margaret Mitchell from the writing world too soon. Gone with the Wind was cultivated from the tales past down to her through family members who lived during the Civil War. This gives us a rare glimpse into what life was like back then for Southern belles and everyone connected to the gentry in the 1860s.
