Poetry... bah!

I'm not a big poetry buff. I prefer not to read it unless it's Edgar Allan Poe. His poetry is creative to the point of genius. Lots of people like it ,because they like how deep and dark his works are. I think Poe is actually the product of his era. Gothic/romantic poetry and novels were en vogue in the early 1800s. I suppose this was due to the stark contrast to all the feel-good literature and societal norms prior to that era. Humans have a fascination towards death and darker parts of the human psyche. I believe humans are dark by nature, and we have been trained against it, from religion, particularly.

  1. Edgar Allal Pie is one of my most absolute favorite writers of all time. He is very creative in his writing as you have mentioned. I am not much for dark writing or writers but I have just became so fond of Poe after reading The Tell Tale Heart and Annabel Lee. I agree that humans can be dark by nature. I do not think any of us are always so cheerful and excited as people in fairy tales.

  2. Edgar Allan Poe is, probably, my favorite, too. The flow of his poems, plus, the macabre genre make them very entertaining.
