Sleepy Hollow

I thought The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would be more climactic than it was. It didn't feature any real hauntings of the legend. I thought it was wrong for Katrina to be so stupid as to marry Brom Bones for no real reason, other than Ichabod's disappearance. I also thought it was horrible that nobody went searching for him. They were too superstitious to have the sense to do so. Washington Irving had a great knack for writing, he just seemed to make assertions that were absurd. For instance, the women were too dumb to realize their main beau was interested in them, and in short of that man, she just marries the next guy. 

Rip Van Winkle was interesting as far as type of character. Dame Van Winkle was made out to be the villain, because her husband was too worthless to do his chores? That's probably why he got such poor reviews from critics.
